Shopping My Stash: Vice 4, Day 3

"Don't do purple again," I told myself, channeling Harry as he put the sorting hat on his head and fervently wished to not be put in Slytherin.  "Not purple!"  Except I like purple, and there are quite a few purples in Vice 4, and that was a selling point.  Still, I tried to do a different look.  I was only somewhat successful.  At least I used the thing.

It's the same.  I'm getting one look out of this palette.
Note to self: Try again.

Shadows used: Grip (transition), Pandemonium (nonexistent crease), Harlot (inner third of lid), Deadbeat (middle/outer lid).  Underhand on center and outer corners of lower lashline, over Nyx Faux Blacks pencil in Burnt Sienna.

Inner corners are Nyx Faux Whites in Vanilla with BH Cosmetics On Point highlighter from the Blacklight Highlight palette.

Also used: Element and Specter from the Moondust palette, with a little more of that On Point -- all on the centers of lids, over Nyx glitter primer.

Oh, good.  I'm yellow again.

Yesterday, I read Phyrra's post about the Kevyn Aucoin Neo Limelight Highlighter.  I was all ready to shell out $58 for a damn highlighter, but I checked myself.  You know, it's not a terrible deal.  It's three shades.  Okay, it's over $78 per ounce.  But Urban Decay Afterglow highlighter is over $113 an ounce!  Still, I'm not sure I can hand over $60 and call it a bargain right now (keeping in mind I have bought three new pairs of boots this summer).  I would like to be able to talk myself into it.  Believe me.

But while I'm shopping my stash, I may as well dig out other products as well.  I attempted to recreate Phyrra's blush look with my much-neglected Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Mood Light, the equally neglected Too Faced Something About Berry blush, and my beloved Urban Decay Aura highlighter.  I like it, but it's not the same.  Also, that berry blush went on looking craaaaaazy and needed to be toned down with the palest gray from my LunatiCK contour palette.  I like the rosy cheeks with my dress though!

I am using HD powder on my face and shoving a bright-ass light in it to take pictures.  This is a possible reason my face keeps showing up significantly whiter than my body.  There's really not this difference in person.  I don't live my life to look good in pictures, so whatever.  I will keep using my HD powder.  It looks good in person.

Stuff on my face:
I'm not sure it's worth the trouble to throw in a lot of labels.  I'm limited in the number of characters I use, so I can't possibly tag every product brand.  This blog is searchable anyway.  Anyone have thoughts on the benefits of labels?

Photos taken with my crappy phone, under bad lighting, with a cheapo clip-on phone ring light that I don't fully know how to use.  No editing done other than cropping.
