Vice 4, Day 4; Plus Foundation for Pale Skin

Last day of the Vice 4 challenge.  I probably named this series badly, but I'm still working out the kinks.  If I do this again with another palette next week, I'll probably consolidate into one post at the end.

Shades used today: Grip, Robbery, Low, and C-Note on lids.  That's right, I used all shimmer on my hooded lids.  1985 on lower lashline, over Nyx Faux Blacks in Oxblood at the outer thirdish and over just skin in the center.  Inner corners are Low or Robbery, with a bit of BH Cosmetics Blacklight Highlight in Strobe over Nyx Faux Whites in Vanilla.  I don't remember.  Some random Urban Decay purple liner on the waterline.  They have a lot of good shades, and I didn't read the label.  It's purple.

I didn't feel any real urges to shop for new stuff in the last day, but now the challenge remained to get a different look out of the Vice 4 palette I've been using all week.  That, and my new foundation came in!

I decided to try Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless in the shade 112 after Hollie Forrest praised it on YouTube.  I'm not sure which exact video/s I was watching, but she lists the exact shade number in the description on this one.   I would not normally go for a foundation claiming to be for oily skin but since Hollie Forrest has dry skin like I do and it's working for her, it seemed worth a shot.  We typically wear the same shades of foundation, so I went with her shade as well.  112 is not the palest shade.  I think there is one lighter yellow-based shade, and then two pinky ones.  Pink is not going to work for me.  The palest shade of drugstore foundation is generally too dark for me but maybe I picked up a "tan" somewhere.  LOL, tan.

Got a little sweaty in the chin region.  It's July, you guys.  That's not the foundation's fault.  And I'm aware these inner corners suck, and my glasses shifted.  You don't need to tell me.  I am tired of the overly edited Instagram look.  Life is full of imperfections.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in Natural Ivory 112 ingredients (from Ulta.com): Aqua / Water / Eau, Cyclohexasiloxane, Nylon-12, Isododecane, Alcohol Denat., Cyclopentasiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG / PPG-10 / 1 Dimethicone, PEG-20, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Phenoxyethanol, Magnesium Sulfate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, HDI / Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Titanium Dioxide, Methylparaben, Acrylates Copolymer, Tocopherol, Butylparaben, Aluminum Hydroxide, Alumina, Silica, Glycerin. May Contain: CI 77891 / Titanium Dioxide, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 / Iron Oxides.

I was skeptical when it arrived.  It looked crazy dark and orange in the jar, and the swatch on my wrist looked dark and orange too.  But when you do put a swatch on your face?  You don't.  You blend it out!  I did some random patches of foundation around my neck and shoulders for an initial test, blending with fingers. I waited for oxidation and didn't see any, so I went ahead and used it on my face.

I applied foundation with a Sigma F84, which does not work well with KVD foundation.  Not at all. I purchased this brush during Sigma's recent sale so the only foundation I've had a chance to try it with is Lock-It liquid, and it's a fail.  But with this, it was fantastic!  It went on like butter (but not greasy like butter), and it looked like skin.  I didn't have to mix it with anything to make it wearable.  And I do think I got slightly darker since buying the KVD!  I am wearing exactly the same face powder as I've been wearing in my other photos, using the same lights, and this just...matches.  Not only in person, but in pics too.  Huh.  It's not emphasizing fine lines or dryness.  It's not caking.  I have to see how it wears over the course of a day but I'm impressed so far.

Neck/chest is just a little darker but to be fair, it's in shadow. Worn off around my mouth a bit because I was eating, and didn't carefully dab my face clean like a lady.  Because LOL.

There's no pump!  That's a definite con.  But for a $6-8 foundation that is otherwise good, it's not a dealbreaker.

You ever try taking pictures of your closed eyes, with a big old circle of light in your face?  It's not easy.  This might not be the best I could do, but I just...quit.

Stuff on my face:

Photos taken with my crappy phone, under bad lighting, with a cheapo clip-on phone ring light that I don't fully know how to use.  No editing done other than cropping.
