Everyday Red Look

When I wake up in the morning and I don't feel like getting dressed, that's when I'm most likely to revert to a default daily look.  In my case, that involves a lot of red.  I usually read for Modern Renaissance, but I got carried away and added some Geek Chic glittery red today too.

I'll mention a couple of products and where they were placed in the body of this post, but a full list of products is also at the end.

I got one eye right.  One.  I'll take it.

The best way I managed to capture the glitter is in a blurry picture.  There's barely a speck of it showing in pics that focused properly.  So we're going with it.

I now get to spend my day pretending I meant to do that to my inner corner.

Fun with smile bags.

I used some random pan of whitish shadow as a base shade over primer.  Then blended Realgar into my "crease" and patted Venetian Red all over the lid, blending slightly into Realgar.  Added Love + with a smaller crease brush, to the "crease" to deepen it and further blend.  Then I patted glitter primer on my lids and applied Geek Chic Golden Trio with a UD Moondust brush.

Let's talk about Golden Trio.  I bought the entire collection of Harry Potter shadows from Geek Chic a while back, not realizing how incredibly glittery they would all be.  They are so glittery!  I like glitter, but I didn't know how to use it at the time.  I have since discovered glitter primer.  You can apply glitter primer right over your other makeup and slap on your glitter, and it will STAY.  I am not going to have glitter fallout err'where as the day wears on.  Also, did you see where I mentioned Harry Potter eye shadow?  Hello? The golden trio refers to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.  I see Fawkes in it, personally.

Under eyes, applied Burnt Sienna to the waterline and lower lashline.  Blended out with a smudge brush.  Took the same brush and added a little Venetian Red to further blend, and set the liner.

Here's where it went haywire: Added inner corner "cat eyes" with Burnt Sienna.  That was fine, but I couldn't just leave it!  Nooooo.  Added Thunderstruck to the inner corners with a slightly too big pencil brush, jacked everything up, and just left it!  Coffee was calling.  I felt done.  Sigh.

If you think I would wear Harry Potter-themed eyeshadow and not wear a matching Hogwarts top, you know nothing about me.  Today's top is the strappy Hogwarts tank from Torrid.  I couldn't get a good picture so there's the link.  The sizing on these is inconsistent.  I got the smallest size they make and it's way too big.  I'll power through (with a cami underneath to cover my business) but if you're the smaller end of plus size, you may want to go the Hot Topic route instead.  I can't believe I'm recommending Hot Topic but they have a lot of HP merch!  I think I went the Torrid route this time because I wasn't feeling the specific shade of blue on the similar Ravenclaw House tank Hot Topic carries.  Hot Topic doesn't have the Hogwarts tank in this strappy style, and I wanted the strappy style.
